A striking mosque commissioned by the founder of the city, Ahmed Shah I in 1424 is located near Bhadra Fort in the old walled city. This majestic mosque that took around thirteen years to be completed was established as a private shrine for the Gujarat Sultans.Construction started with its foundation being laid in the year 1411 and was completed in 1424. It was built using the remains from the old Jain and Hindu temples. A black slab located near the arch is believed to be the base of a Jain idol.
