  • Museums and the means of knowledge through them are more enjoyable than schools, colleges and universities, and museums have found their place in today's culture. So today the museum is not a collection of rags. But it has become an invaluable medium of education by preserving the past of the people in a dignified and cultured way and by arranging the rites in new dimensions. Therefore, keeping this important in mind, the policy of museums has been formulated. As an important institution for imparting pleasure and knowledge, it is desirable to imagine the museum as a leading institution and the policy organs for its proper development.

In order to properly develop the power of imparting knowledge with the pleasure of museums in the state of Gujarat, it is desirable to have a policy of development of various activity oriented as well as one activity oriented museums that give a proper view of the various natural and human activities taking place in our state.

There are two main ways to develop various activity oriented and one activity oriented museums in different centers of the state. The first step is for the government to develop such centers and the second step is to encourage museums in the state to be developed by individuals or organizations with appropriate grants. But the activity of museums in the state of Gujarat is not new so two different points of view are required in its policy decision. The first point of view is the development of existing museums and the second point is the development of new museums.

From the first point of view, museum activity had started in the old states of Gujarat about a hundred years ago. Various activity oriented museums were set up by the state at Kutch, Bhuj, Vadodara, Rajkot, Junagadh etc. These museums were a major attraction of these towns and were designed according to the ideas of the time of their establishment. In addition, some institutional museums have also been developed.

Over time, these museums have become obsolete, so it is necessary to observe the collections of these museums, their exhibits, their condition as well as their buildings and their administrative arrangements, prepare their reports, and outline their development plans. Because the existing buildings of the museum want a complete overhaul of its administrative arrangements. These are the important points for making arrangements in accordance with the cultural and environmental environment of Gujarat.
